Greening Chiswick
We have been partnering with the Chiswick Flower Market (several of the team are involved in both CFM and Abundance) to create proposals to help green up the centre of Chiswick.
The centre of Chiswick is deteriorating and no longer fit for purpose. If you look around at the Market Place area you can see crumbling walls, deteriorating benches, flash flooding, tree roots blocking parking spaces, redundant street furniture, broken kerbs. With the imminent redevelopment of the old police station there is a real opportunity.
The Flower Market commissioned a landscape architect to draw up preliminary plans. They have now launched a Co-Design Initiative – you can take a look at the proposals and add your suggestions, or just feed back whether you like or hate what is being proposed. This co-design, run by Create Streets, runs throughout July and August. You can read more about the proposals here or go straight to the Online Co-Design site and add your comments.
Abundance spreading its wings
Other places wish they had an Abundance group…. we have been offering advice to Erdington in Birmingham, Barnet and Kew, all of whom fancy copying our beautiful sustainable gardening style. And Horticulture magazine featured our work. Our local gardens have been beautifully looked after by our volunteer teams, many thanks to them.
Fruit picking and apple day
The Abundance fruit picking season kicked off with our first tree last week, a relatively rare (but delicious) loquat. Our annual Apple Day will again be held at the Flower Market on Sunday 6th September. Mark your diaries now. Bring your fruit, or just come for a drink.
Have a good summer!
