A scrubby triangle along Heathfield Terrace was transformed in 2018 from a scrubby patch of weeds that no-one wanted to take responsibility for, into a charming little garden with a pretty bench and a fruitful crab apple. After a tough clear out and weed dig carried out by the Good Gym on the snowiest night of the year, the small tree – a Sentinel Malus – was planted, along with japonica, a smoke tree, echinops, geranium and artichokes. Local residents provided paving labs and the bench, the local flats provided an initial grant and access to the water tap.
