A scrubby triangle along Heathfield Terrace was transformed in 2018 from a scrubby patch of weeds that no-one wanted to take responsibility for, into a charming little garden with a pretty bench (thank you Anne!) and a fruitful crab apple. After a tough clear out and weed dig carried out by the Good Gym on the snowiest night of the year, the small tree – a Sentinel Malus – was planted, along with japonica, a smoke tree, echinops, geranium and artichokes. Local residents provided paving labs and the bench, the local flats provided an initial grant and access to the water tap.
Helen Whitman waters the garden, with assistance from Cheryl Lanyon.
