Thank you to all those who have sent in your comments about the design for the corner garden – the flagpole garden – next to the Town Hall which Abundance London and the Friends of Turnham Green have been asked by Fusion Lifestyle to re-plant. You can still view the designs on our website (see last post) and send in any comments.
Progress and digging
We hit a snag this week as the ground had been left capped with a thick layer of hardcore and concrete. A couple of heroic volunteers (thank you Chris and Nick!) had a go at removing it, but is deep and solid, and also needs removing off-site, so Fusion have asked the plastic lawn guys who laid it to remove it on Monday. Once that is gone we can dig over the bed.
If anyone has a spare hour or two to help dig over the bed (once the concrete is gone!) please get in touch. It has to be done this week, as we plan to plant the following week.
Fund-raising, damsons and loquats
What with having to cancel our Apple Day last season for lack of apples, splashing out on guerrilla gardening the beds up and down the High Road (check out the plants – bulbs, rhubarb, flowers, fruit bushes – beginning to peek out) and over-spending a wee bit on this garden, we find ourselves a little skint. Abundance is not really funded, apart from the occasional Waitrose green buttons.
So if anyone would like a lovely young Chiswick damson tree (subspecies ‘Staveley Road’ – see the gorgeous crop above), or a loquat seedling (‘Elmwood Road’), in return for a donation please get in touch.
