Fruit Day 2015!

Its our 5th annual celebration of apples, pears, quince and other fruit collected from the streets and gardens of West London. This year is apparently the best harvest for 30 years. We will be dusting off our huge apple press – which lay unloved last year as the harvest failed.

If you want to buy fruit with food feet, not food miles, make sure to pop along to the Abundance Fruit Day. Fresh apple juice – though you may have to help wind the press – artisan jams and preserves, kids’ fruity crafts thanks to St Michael’s and All Angels. Stock up on fruit bushes & vines. Mel the Bee will be there with his local honey. There will be top quality Cultivate London herbs & plants, traditional games with a twist, like apple bobbing, longest apple peel competition, smoothie pedal bike and William Tell slack-lining (tightrope with apple on head). This year we are introducing Sipsmiths tipples (we have been supplying our local distillery with delicious natural infusions such as mulberries), Enjoy a speciality local lunch crafted by the Cabin and hot drinks from a very special coffee van. The Hogarth school have been picking fruit for a month and they will showcase their cakes, crumbles and toffee apples.

Our apple storage space (the basement of Chiswick Library) is already full to bursting with apples and we have two weeks of picking left! <
