The Arrow Garden got its name because it lies in front of the Arrow Electrical Shop, on Chiswick High Road, between the junctions with Netheravon and British Grove.
It’s a series of long beds, bordered by the cycle lane on the back and a wide pavement on the front, sparsely planted with evergreens, and liberally sprinkled with weeds and litter.
In summer 2025 Clyde and Co, a solicitors company that has befriended Abundance and helped us break the back of various tough new gardens, came to start us off. They cleared debris, weeded and built a compost heap for leaves and organic matter. On the coldest evening of the autumn, a small but hardy group of Abundance volunteers, along with the ever-wonderful Good Gym, cleared leaves and weeds and then planted hundreds of bulbs – daffodils, tulips, crocuses, along with a vanload of plants donated by the also ever-wonderful Ailand Landscapes. These plants are saved from destruction when clients demand all change in their gardens, and we welcome the chance to offer them new homes.
We look forward to seeing those beds becoming a worthy welcome into Chiswick, rather than an eyesore after the new planting by Hammersmith & Fulham along the High Road!
