The plan was to create a garden for students to enjoy. First stage was for the students to plant up a mixed hedge of native planting – hazel, crab apple, goat willow, downy birch, holly and yew – all protected by a temporary fence of chestnut palings. Unfortunately various changes of staff meant that the much-vaunted “commitment to biodiversity and beauty” slid down the do list.
